A Tradition of Excellence

Since 1895

PneumaticScaleAngelus's rich history dates back to 1895 when it was founded as Electric Scale Co. Later that year the name was changed to Pneumatic Scale Company as a result of a patent received on the first Pneumatic Scale.

Over the years, the Pneumatic Scale Company acquired several other companies, including Standard Automatic Machine Co., McDonald Engineering Corporation, Redler Conveyor Co., Wollaston Foundry, Delamere & Williams Co., and Garbert Manufacturing Co.

In 1989 Pneumatic Scale was acquired by Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc. as part of a long-term strategy to provide Barry-Wehmiller with a more diverse balance of product lines and customers.

In 1995, Barry-Wehmiller acquired Figgie Packaging Systems. Figgie's Consolidated Cappers, Pfaudler fillers and Closetech can seamers were integrated into the Pneumatic Scale business unit.

Following the Figgie acquisition, Pneumatic Scale launched its Rapid Response Team to provide a superior level of service to its current and new customer base. Still active today, the Rapid Response Team is comprised of a core group of individuals from various disciplines in the organization that impact the parts manufacturing and delivering processes. The goals of the team are to provide reduced lead times and on-time deliveries.

Pneumatic Scale's acquisition of Mateer Burt in May 2002 expanded its product lines once again. The addition of the Mateer auger fillers and Burt roll through labelers enabled Pneumatic Scale to offer a broader range of packaging automation solutions to its customers.

Zepf was acquired by Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc. in 1995. Zepf, Inc.'s roots stem from a family corporation built on dedication, daring, and a mastery of innovative production processes. In 2004, Zepf's innovative container handling and lean storage solutions were integrated with Pneumatic Scale's business unit as a natural complement to the company's rotary change parts product line.

Pneumatic Scale's focus on Pharmaceutical and Bio-Processing markets was enhanced in November of 2004 with the purchase of Carr & Centritech models of continuous flow centrifugation.

Most recently, Pneumatic Scale acquired Angelus Sanitary Can Machine Company. Founded in 1910 by inventor Henry L. Guenther, Angelus has based its reputation on perfecting Guenther's revolutionary machinery for closing or "seaming" component ends on cans. The merger blends Angelus's industry leading line of high-speed beverage, food and specialty can seamers with Pneumatic Scale's already extensive product line. Operating as PneumaticScaleAngelus, the company is now the largest packaging equipment manufacturer in North America.

PneumaticScaleAngelus's range of technology, design expertise and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction has allowed the company to become an industry leader in liquid/dry filling, capping, and can seaming machinery.
